Time has come to publish the last post on this site. I've been posting links and articles for three years, and it's been great. I always felt my thing, the purpose of the site, was to share and post the very latest on Hitchens, especially upcoming events. He is no longer with us, so, there won't be anymore books, essays, talks or
debates by the contrarian to link to. If I don't have the motivation to frequently look for news, events and articles, why bother, I ask myself. Why not call it a day? Perhaps I should've done it months ago, but it's been hard to let go.
As said, it's been great, but I don't want to leave doubts about the future of this site. People still visit DH and many wonder if there will be new posts. No, there won't. I'm telling you this because I don't want to waste anyone's time. I want to thank everyone who has visited, hopefully you've had some use of the site. I'm also glad Hitchens visited DH, he called it 'useful'.
Daily Hitchens will stay online as an archive. The news feeds will continue to provide Hitch related writings, but I don't control them, only by keyword. Comments are no longer moderated, and I won't be tweeting. I'll remain admin of the facebook page, but there won't be links shared in Hitchens' name. The Daily Hitchens facebook page has been and remains inactive, I haven't had much use of it other than for admin purposes. The forum requires membership these days, due to spam.
I leave you with Hitchens' closing remarks from the William Dembski debate. Poetic..inspiring..
Thanks, and all the best to everyone.

Hi Tom,
Sorry to hear that there won't be more posts. While knowing that this was probably going to happen, I still feel a bit down about it - I still can't believe he's gone I guess.
Anyway, thanks so much for your site. Hitchens was (and still is) an inspiration, and your site made it much easier to watch/read his work.
All the best,
James Bloodworth
I recall the excitement I had when I learned from this site that Hitchens would be debating Dembski in my backyard. Seeing him make those comments in person was something I won't soon forget. Thank you for hosting the site these last few years.
Thanks James.
Yes, it's hard to believe he's gone. But he'll continue to inspire many people.
awb, it's been a pleasure.
Thank you Tom for creating and maintaining this site, it was always my only stop for Hitchens info.
Cheers,
Jason
Thank you so much for all the time and effort that you put into this blog. It meant the world to me at times and it saddens me that there won't be anymore posts, but as you said, the reason for it is no longer with us. Maybe we can look forward to a book about Christopher by Carol Blue?
Take care friend.
Thanks for the last 3 years, Tom. It's been a blast.
Thanks so much, Tom. Very, very glad to hear it's staying up as an archive. I couldn't deal with the absence of it, too. Have a great life.
Well done Tom,
You have done a great job and the time is right to let this project rest.
Hitch will always be remembered by his words.
Peace.
Thank you for your work here. You chose an excellent and fitting CH excerpt to serve as your adieu.
I've enjoyed this site a lot and have found it very useful. Thank you very much. I assumed it would be around forever actually; for the release of biography, future essays on Hitchens', etc. Oh well...

Thanks for puttinng so much into this site. Every time I saw a notice of a posting in my inbox, I expected and received a nugget of wisdom.
Just to add appreciation for all the work here. Best wishes.
All the best, Tom, and thank you for maintaining the site so brilliantly. In the great relay of life, Hitch passed us the baton, and your site made the handover a little easier. Best wishes.
Robert.
Thank you. My daily visits to this site will now cease. I'm pleased you have made this decision, it feels somehow "right".
I have a 4 month old boy and as soon as he is old enough to understand language I will speak to him about Christopher and who knows, maybe this site will still be around for him to one day discover more about Christopher and his kind..
Again, thank you.
i have checked this site every day from Ireland looking for updates. it has been a fantastic resource and like the great man himself it will be missed.
thank you...
Thank you Tom. Your site has certainly help 'spread the word'. I wish both it and Hitch could have run on many more years! Good luck in your future endevours.
Thank you for your efforts, Tom. I enjoyed the site very much.

I want to thank you for your effort. For years, I visited this site daily and the fact that you won't be posting anymore makes me sad, because it reminds me that neither will Hitch. I am glad, however, that the site will remain an archive and a tribute to him.
Many thanks from Copenhagen,
Mette
Really thankful for the work you've done, it was a service.
I have also appreciated this site.
All things must pass...
Dear "Daily Hitchens",
it is sad, but understandable to hear that the site will be put on "pilot light", but sadly the truth of the no longer existence of Christopher giver it no other chance. Christopher Hitchens was for me the inspiration to become active as an Atheist, instead of keeping quiet. He was unique in his way, and he will remain unique in my mind, as a mental support in all I do and will do, in my activities spreading awareness and enlightenment.
"Chapeaux"
Sorry to see it go. Best wishes comrade.
Thank you Tom. Like many others this site was my one stop shop on CH. I feel sad that its disappearing but quite understand. All the very best. I miss knowing he's no longer with us.
::standing ovation::
Thank you, sir. On behalf of the many, many who stand with us, thank you for creating and keeping this site as an archive for the future.
Thanks Tom,
I enjoyed my time here and you always answered mails and requests.
to misquote Bertie Wooster in Carry On Jeeves (one of Hitchens favourites) it's been a feast of reason and flow of soul.
Best

Thankyou thankyou thankyou!
Damn fine job Tom! Best to you!
Hi Tom,
Sorry to hear that you will no longer be 'actively' posting new material but I thank you for leaving it as an article. I only came to the writing of Christopher in Early 2011, and after reading his articles on this site for a few days came across the link to the piece where Hitchens let's his readership know he has terminal cancer.
It still pains me, it always will I think.
Regards,
Kevin
Thank you for your efforts, they were cut to shot by the cruel intervention of nature.
Like many I type his name into search engines in the hope that something I had not seen before will pop up, but such events are rarer by the day.
Sadly the lesser Hitchens will continue to show up long after Christopher has gone.
Thank you so much Tom for the site, and I'm glad it will live on as an archive. About a year ago, the idea of an annual day to honor Christopher ( perhaps his birthday ) and the principles he stood for was discussed here and there in the comments. I hope that it one day gains traction, and becomes an annual event.
Thanks again,
Austin

Well done, Tom.
This site has been a great source for information, and at times inspiration.
All the best,
I want to join the others here in saying thank you for running this site and for putting so much work in to creating a consistent, reliable, pleasant place to see the latest Hitchens.
All the best,

Dear, Tom. (I only learned your name was "Tom" from the above comments.)
Thank you so much for your efforts. I had no idea who was running this site, but I appreciated it so very much. I'm heartened to read that you will keep the site up as an archive. There is still much I have yet to read or watch, and I look forward to doing so often. I came late to the party, and even though the host and guest of honor have both said "Good night", I would like to stay for one last scotch.
Cheers, everyone!

Dear Tom,
Thanks so much for running this site. I've been a weekly reader for quite some time and had shared the url with friends. This has been a great website to watch Hitchens in action and to learn.
Steve
Thank you so much for all your efforts here. They helped me get to know CH at this hight. I would not have known him quite so well if it was not for your linking to his material. Thank you.
Thanks for doing such a splendid job.
I still can't believe he's gone...his writings so profoundly changed my life. It's great to know that this archive will exist for future generations to delight in and be enlightened by.
Kind regards,
Matthew

I miss his voice, his ideas, his passion and his ironic way of debating. Thank you for showing me around and how great it is to have so many certainties and make decisions for myself.Adriana Demirdjián
Thank you for this resource. I have really, really, enjoyed it. I miss Christopher Hitchens, but we're lucky to have had him.
Thank you Tom for this site and for the promise to keep it as an archive. Christopher for me was a true inspiration and I miss him.
Thank you for the effort you are truly a great friend and unwavering pillar of support .. In will miss his great humanity and intellect and courage!
I can only but echo what has already been said.
Thanks.
Sad but grateful for the inspirational postings
Thank you.
Thank you!
Thanks for everything!
thanks. it was a pleasure
I hope that there will be another willing to take up the torch. There definitely should be a forum where Hitchens admirers can meet and discuss. Thanks for making this site possible. It will continue to remain an excellent resource. Please keep it up for future generations!
Thank you so much for all the love and effort you put into this project! Everyday there are new people hearing the name "christopher hitchens" for the first time. and they will search for it and find your website. then they should prepare for a live changing experience. :-) You have inspired us all and will continue to do so....Thanks!
I am too compelled to add a brief soliloquy of gratitutde to those already expressed. To you, Tom, and to Hitch, a profound and endearing bon voyage.
I clicked the bookmark for this site every other day while hitch was alive and still once every couple weeks... Thank you for maintaining this amazing site!
Thanks for great site. It was always part of my daily routine. Letting go is difficult but we will always have him in our memories and you have provided a wonderful archive for those of us who were deeply touch by Hitch.
All the best.... Mary
Thank you for your hard work to date. I gain comfort in knowing there is a Hitch community who share and feel the same way about this great thinker. I only wish there was something more we could do. To date I've tried to buy up all of Hitchens works before they go out of circulation. I recommend others do the same. BTW, I would love to have an index of Hitch's library at home in DC. Does anyone have Blue contact information?
Thanks for all your efforts in running and maintaining the site to date. A fantastic Hitch resource!
So where will the Hitch hangout be next? Any suggestions? Forums/sites ect.
I think you made the right choice. Thank you for all you have done and for keeping DH archived.
Tom, we all owe you a debt for your tireless work in collecting all things "Hitch" and collating neatly for us on this site. Thank you for all of your hard work in helping perpetuate these powerful ideas.
Thank you
I first came across this man when I was randomly searching for anything cool on youtube. That was one week ago. I watched clips of him every day since only to find out today that he passed away. Someone once told me that certain books only come your way when you are ready to read them and hopefully that excuses my ignorance. What I would like to say is; Thank you, Christopher. I'm not scared anymore.
Thank you Hitch and you too Tom.
Adieu
Patrice, Ottawa, Canada
Thank you Tom. Chris continues to be sorely missed by us all. Your site will help enlighten those not yet familiar with the great man.
I 'discovered' Christopher about 10 years ago and have read his work ever since. He was an inspiration to me and I hope his memory will continue to live on in thousands of other people like me.
Christopher was unique and simply irreplaceable.
Great job Tom for what you have done here.
Thanks so much, Tom. Very, very glad to hear it's staying up as an archive. I couldn't deal with the absence of it, too. Have a great life.

Discovering more and more about CH, really through Richard Dawkins and other associations. Sadly these revelations arrive whilst in my middle years but I'm so very thankful. Just happened upon this forum, and as a recent Atheist convert, it's heartening to learn how many like-minded people there are and how respected and loved CH is. Thank you CH. I venture further to open- mindedness. LT
A good man. If there is a God, he'll be welcome. If there is not, or regardless, it was an honor and privilege sharing the planet with this man.
I feel as robbed of spirit by beautiful Christopher's passing as I have by John Lennon's. Absolute courage and honesty is the province of few men, 98% of religious are liars, 2% are idiots. Missing his power so but privileged to have lived in a good world he shaped by his power, he shows us perfectly how to live; and perfectly how to die,
