If Gleevec is indicated by the DNA analysis, I take that as very good news.
Good luck and hope are with us many years hence.

So hoping the treatment works. You're such an amazing thinker, only wrong on Israel. :) Anyway, you're the only public voice who opposes Israel that I love anyway, because you're so spot on on most other issues. And you say it with such elan etc. Please get well!!

Christopher, you are the change I want to see in the world. I keep your books and ideas close to my heart. Get well soon, and go a few more rounds. Your legacy will indeed live forever. Cheers mate, all the best.

I only hope that Mr.Hitchens is aware that an akaline forming diet makes an environment in that body that cancer and other pathogens cannot survive in. Please, stay with us Mr. Hitchens.

I've just read Letters to a Young Contraian and what a treasure-trove it is. I found it not just a blueprint for those who choose to swim upstream. It is a rich vein of sage advice for anyone who chooses to rise above our facile attachments to the herd and its unworthy affections.

This is a book about courage and the rich rewards that it imparts on the souls of those who choose to live at the coalface of a questioning life.

I will give my copy of this book to my son on his 18th birthday convinced that it will help illuminate the setting of his inner compass.

I do not wish to comment on your cancer, I can only wish you well. I wish to convey to you the greatest compliment that I can imagine...you made me think. Is there a greater legacy? Or a greater prize? From real thought comes real change...I can only hope to do as much. Love.

I lost a parent shortly after they were diagnosed and treated for cancer- i think the chemo and radiation sped up the process- i'm convnced if Christopher had not treated the cancer, he'll live much longer than he would with a body bombarded with chemo and radiation

Thank you Christopher for being our voice. You have given so much and have enriched our lives beyond measure. I'm proud to know you through your brilliant, beautiful words.

"Charlotte Gerson claims that treatment at the clinic has produced high cure rates for many cancers. In 1986, however, investigators learned that patients were not monitored after they left the facility [19]. Although clinic personnel later said they would follow their patients systematically, there is no published evidence that they have done so. A naturopath who visited the Gerson Clinic in 1983 was able to track 21 patients over a 5-year period (or until death) through annual letters or phone calls. At the 5-year mark, only one was still alive (but not cancer-free); the rest had succumbed to their cancer [20]." (quackwatch)

If cancer is "cured" by these methods, then it can be easily proven. But for some reason no accurate records are kept on patients-- oh, cuz they all die from cancer afterwards. I see why they don't keep records. If it were true, it would be verifiable. QED.

1stLT.L.Diablo said...

why didi "they" invent antibiotics to kill all manner of disease and subsequent death, and invent vaccines to keep us from catching shit in the first damn place-- if this ominous they merely want to profit from sickness?

Oh, yeah, I guess it's cuz doctors and scientists are actually attempting to help us and the life expectancy is going up since the "good-old days" of shamans and pig entrails as medicine!

Grow up-- a cure for cancer would make them billions, just like they make billions off antibiotics and vaccines.

and this is from an anti-capitalist anarchist. Ok? Ok...

Hang in there, Hitch... there's plenty of good-hearted people that appreciate the clarity of your reason and can't wait to see you back to full speed again. Take care, bud...

Skeptical Sage said...

Yes, couldn't agree more. Stop listening to you stupid doctors who profit from all of their experimental drug treatments. You can cure cancer from changing your diet, get high does of vitamin C via IV, hydrogen peroxide treatment, and dozens of other cures.

Notice they call them treatments, not cures? Wake the f' up people, cancer is a hugely profitable business and the industry has not intention of curing it. Wake up from your brainwashed slumber, stop looking to doctors for all the answers, they don't know much about anything, just how to make as much money off of you before you die from chemotherapy poisoning.

Rpmoore said...

Dear Mr. Hitchens, cancer was cured decades ago by Dr. Max Gerson. If you really want a good story to write, investigate how the current accepted cancer treatment is a sham and that it's already been cured but ignored by corporate interests at the expense of millions of cancer victims such as yourself.

Mr. Hitchens, I do hope your health is improving, and that you will get your voice back!  Though I am a spiritual person myself, you and your writings and speeches (via Youtube videos) have been truly a breath of fresh air for someone who is utterly fed up with fundamentalism and fanaticism.  I am not praying for you (per your request); but I have been sending you good thoughts and energy often.  Whether or not I get to meet you in person, I hope that you see these messages, and know that people across the ideological and philosophical spectrum care about you...

Hi Mr. Hitchens, keep fighting! Your writings insire me to be more critical about religion. Good material to plant seeds in new souls. There is still lot of work to do. I am sending good vibes, energy or positivism, whatever works.

Eeew; representatives from the whole spectrum of cancer quacks are slithering out of the wood works. Everything from the 'cancer is a fungus' alkaline diet people, 'cancer is caused by oxygen defficiency' hydrogen peroxide people, to the Gerson therapy scammers and vitamin C morons.

Oh well; could have been worse, we've yet to see the 'laetrile'(cyanide), antineoplaston and Miracle Mineral Solution(chlorine dioxide!) hucksters.

Dr(?) Max Gerson?
In 1994, a study published in the alternative medical literature described 18 patients treated for cancer with the Gerson Therapy. Their median survival from treatment was 9 months. Five years after receiving the Gerson treatment, 17 of the 18 patients had died of their cancer, while the one surviving patient had active non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Mr. Hitchens,

You see how beloved you are and how many people crave the beauty of language you have shared with us. And there are so many other people who feel this way. I do not want you to leave us, I will miss you dreadfully. I have tried to read everything and watch you always. Your brain is a wondrous thing. I wish you comfort and peace in your time ahead. Stay with us as long as you are able. The gift you gave us knows no measure. With Gratitude.

Son of a *itch, I wish I'd met you long before this horrific fight. The world needs your voice. As a fellow atheist, I thank you for your contributions I only wish I had the guts to express. Do not walk softly, good sir... much love to you and yours during this difficult time.

Christopher,

Noticed somewhere that you are scheduled for a book signing in October, which leads me to hope that you're feeling stronger. I am searching for any news of your current health status and/or any progress with the most recent treatment. Your ideas and views have changed me, and I can only look forward with hope for your full recovery. Be strong!

Christopher: I used to be a Christian until, after weeks and months of reading books by Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris, and after watching numerous debates between you and Christian and Jewish believers, I became an atheist. I am a single mom of three young daughters, and I am now raising them to think for themselves and I'm trying to teach them to not allow themselves to be spoon-fed insupportable information, as I was when I was growing up Catholic. I am grateful that you have the courage and honesty to address and articulate all the doubts and questions I've had for my entire life about god and "the rules" I had been taught.

You may never fully know how many people you've helped to change, but I want you to know that you've made a huge difference in my life, and in my daughters' lives. You've will also continue to influence all of the people that WE will touch throughout OUR lives. Thank you.
