I was intrigued to read Mr McGrath's report on Christopher Hitchens, decsribed as 'coming up with some new ideas about his hero, George Orwell, for example - among them that Orwell might have had Asperger's -'.

I should like to point out that I was the first to come up with this diagnosis in 2005, and it was soon after confirmed by Professor Michael Fitzgerald of Trinity College, Dublin, in his book The Genesis of Artistic Creativity. My article can be viewed at http://www.coldspur.com/OrwellsClock.htm.

I wrote to Mr Hitchens a few years ago to draw his attention to my research, but received no reply. I should be very grateful if you could encourage him to read it.

My very best wishes to Mr Hitchens for his eventual recovery,

Sincerely, Tony Percy.
