Happy Birthday tomorrow Hitch and may there be many more
Yes, Christopher Hitchens has had a great deal of influence on my life in the last 4 years. I am deeply hurt of his cancer I am an Iranian living in London. He has rightly stood up for the women of Iran in many occasions. Thank you Christopher for doing so.
Who or what is 'Rain' with 108 000 yes votes? Hitch at number 6, not too bad.
Only TIME editorial have the final say on this matter, two years ago the most vote went to "Iranian people" but Obama became the most influential person in the world, last year most votes went to someone else, but Mark Zuckerberg was acknowledge as the most influential person. So I don't know what is the point of voting.
Robert below: Christopher Hitchens actually has less 'no' votes than anybody on the Time 100 list. He's moving up...everybody be sure to vote!
It is so embarrassing that untalented people like Lady Gaga, Rain, and some gay guy from Glee are higher on the list than the great Christopher Hitchens... PLEASE VOTE PEOPLE!!!
It's the Facebookization of stupid America. Give the hoi polloi a fucking Like Button on their screen and they feel like they're participating in something meaningful.
Be sure to click the Like Button if you agree with me. You do like me, don't you? Oh dear mumsie do say yes!
I have to think that Hitch is cringing at this. It reminds me a bit of the example he's given of the poll question regarding president Reagan's rectal cancer. It's sort of a ridiculous thing to ask. Are we supposed to be voting for the most influential person to the general public? Or for the person who influences the voter? Influence? Ugh. Fuckin Time.
The Yes/No voting system is rather strange. Hitch seems to have plenty of "No" votes, which suggests to me that people are voting against him principally because they dislike him, and thus, he has in fact influenced them. I hope Time take that into account.
