Live stream canceled, according to Fixed Point website. :(
I was so heartened by the straight forwardness exhibited by Larry in the past. Completely disappointed that live stream is not available. Leads one to question if the final result that we see will be 'edited' for content favorable to Larry's side.
If only for appearance (and our reassurance of fairness), it would have been MUCH better to post pone the debate until you could fix your 'technical' problems.
Anonymous 2, that's ridiculous. There is no reason they should have canceled or delayed the debate for the paying customers so that the free webcast could go on. Kudos to Fixed Point for organizing these debates in the first place.
So, it's all about money for you then? Paying customers. Money over truth?
My guess - they underestimated the popularity and the servers couldn't handle the load ;-). Live streaming on the internet is still in it's infancy and has all sorts of issues ... at least they tried. Was quite disappointed myself to see the status as canceled. I doubt it was to 'edit' the results or to bow to paying customers ... if it was server load they may have known it wasn't going to be fixable in time. Hopefully they will prepare better if they attempt something like it again.
No, not about money. I just don't buy your paranoid babble. Imagine if you were in Billings, Montana tonight and you were told the debate was postponed because a free webcast couldn't be achieved. You'd be upset, and rightly so. I take Fixed Point at their word, and I look forward to reading a transcript and hopefully seeing some video. I'm extremely grateful that Fixed Point puts these debates together, and that Christopher Hitchens participates.
Who won?
The underfeated champion.
Mr Christopher Hitchens of course.
