Hitchens in Conversation with Salman Rushdie at the 92nd Street Y

June 12, 2010

Only a short clip from the conversation. This is embedded from the 92nd Street Y Channel. Why not right-click, watch it on YouTube and post a comment to ask them to upload the rest of the event. I did it already.

hitch looks in terrible shape in this video. can only think it must have been a very hard drinking night the day before. such a difference from just a few years ago. see for example the hitchens tharoor debate in 2006, only 4 years ago. he has gone really down hill. wish he would preserve himself better so we all can enjoy and learn from him longer...

Wondetful."

...until you realize that the great Hitch has descended into a mixed metaphor. The concept of being propelled by shit is a comical one, on the bright side.

I assume Eliot's heroine from Middlemarch.

We now know from his Vanity Fair piece that he had earlier in the day had emergency treatment and vomitted before coming on stage. Poor guy looks it.
