One week after the fatwa on Salman Rushdie was issued in 1989, Hitchens appeared on C-SPAN to discuss The Satanic Verses and freedom of speech. Unfortunately very poor audio. Part 1 of 4 Related video: "Christopher Hitchens on Salman Rushdie's fatwa, BBC, Feb 12" in which he mentions the pipe bomb that didn't go off in Cody's bookstore while he (instead of Salman) was reading from The Satanic Verses.
What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof.

why not just post the CSPAN video archive link instead of this piecemeal version ?
It was audible enough for me. "The crumbling revolution" in Iran? Still crumbling after all these years, I see.
There is a C-SPAN video archive link down at the right. Now and then a C-SPAN video is uploaded on YT and many prefer these YT versions where commenting is possible. This is nothing more than an 'golden oldie' post.
