April 6, 2011

SKY ARTS 1 / HD: THU 14 APR, 10PM

"Sky Arts is screening back-to-back interviews with the Hitchens brothers: writer Peter who's known for his conservative and pro-religious stance and writer Christopher who's liberal, left-wing and antitheist (look it up, we had to)."

I'd love to read Kissinger's and the Pope's obits as written
by Christopher Hitchens. I wish he'd write one anyway.
I'll take it out and read it when it happens.

Hitch looked like hell but then the lighting looked poor and Laurie Taylor himself looked over 100. Not bad. No fireworks but a welcome change from the cut and paste Hitch interview we've become familiar with where he gets asked all the same questions and replies with his tired best of Hitch routine.

Will upload to Youtube ASAP.

Oh Lord, please don't let this light go out. Free Will demands that we have a voice like Mr Hitchens, even when that voice dismisses the religious conventions.

Even ill, HItchens is mesmerizing. I don't want to miss a word . . .

Does anyone know how the full interview can be viewed on Sky's (or other) internet site? I am only able to see the "video cut" which is maddeningly short. I tried locating this information on the Sky site and got nowhere. Somewhere, it's stated that viewers outside the UK and Ireland can view Sky videos (on demand) via the Internet but I'll be damned if I can figure out how. Any help will be appreciated.

Well you are correct his rhetoric is not at all like Bernie Sanders, however its well known that Marxists have a deep rooted dislike for liberals who they see as being moral compromisers, for example Slavoj Zizek (a famous Marxist) has spent his life attacking liberals and has stated that the anti-war movement (while being against the war in Iraq himself) is "intellectually lazy"

It is interesting how Hitchens brothers resemble each other… appearance, language, intonation… however often with the opposite convictions.

From the apparent order, it's André Previn tonight, then Peter H next Thuursday, then Hitch either immediately after or the following week.

I don't like the wording terminally-ill, that suggests not an iota of hope. I hope we are not at that stage yet.

Yeah, that is kind of odd. Even though Hitch says that he still very much thinks like a marxist the rhetoric is far away from someone like Bernie Sanders and Cornel West.
