“This debate is not about the existence of God,” says Rudyard Griffiths, co-director and moderator of the Munk Debates. “We have asked Mr. Blair and Mr. Hitchens to wrestle with the more immediate question facing developed and developing nations: Is religion a force for peace or conflict in the modern world?”

HIS DYING WISH
I'm thinking a red eye from Edmonton out to Toronto...yeah. That could work. This has got to be the first time Hitchens has come to Canada in three or four years.
Actually, he was in Toronto last year for a talk at the ROM about the 10 commandments, which I sadly missed. I don't intend to miss this one though!
That Toronto Ten Commandments talk was epic.
I dont like how The Globe and the Mail phrased the following:
"Mr. Hitchens, in contrast, has renewed his beliefs in atheism since being diagnosed with esophageal cancer earlier this year."
Again that damn mis-characterization of atheism as if its a dogmatic set of beliefs itself.
The 10 commandments speech can be downloaded from here:

Well...they sold it out before it even went on sale to the public. I am le pissed.
sigh the petition for more tickets:

Oh thanks for the Ten Commeandments talk. It's really quite good.
Love it!
Petition signed. It'd be sweet if this could be posted somewhere more obvious.
For God's sake, sign the petition!
FGFM, maybe your Hitchenswatch people would even sign this. Then you can come too and heckle, while the rest of us might get to go and enjoy it!
I am extremely pissed at MUNK! We should all protest outside the event (those who could not buy tickets) with signs saying "GOD HATES MUNK"
A couple of tufty old rogues that love the sound of their own voices and are still trying to make their hair work.
