I've created another YT channel. When I posted my thoughts on not starting a new Hitchens YT channel, I was thinking of the massive work it would take to upload all the old videos to new one. I'm not going to do that. For the time being I'm leaving the DHYT channel as it is and use this new one.

We all know YT's policy's can be a bitch but they've got the advantage. It's too big and popular to ignore if one wants to promote videos and blogs.

I'm not sure about future formats or platforms but for now it's day by day, week by week.

Vatican reaches out to atheists - but not to Dawkins or Hitchens.

The Vatican is planning a new initiative to reach out to atheists and agnostics in an attempt to improve the church's relationship with non-believers. Pope Benedict XVI has ordered officials to create a new foundation where atheists will be encouraged to meet and debate with some of the Catholic Church's top theologians. Read the article here.

The way I see it, they've watched the Intelligence square debate from last year and are scared shitless of Hitchens (and Dawkins). In an interview Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi says "Such atheists only view the truth with "irony and sarcasm" and tend to "read religious texts like fundamentalists".

Don't know whether to laugh or cry? I think I'll do the crying bit first and then have a good laugh.

The Satanic Verses Affair. (1989)

One week after the fatwa on Salman Rushdie was issued in 1989, Hitchens appeared on C-SPAN to discuss The Satanic Verses and freedom of speech. Unfortunately very poor audio. Part 1 of 4 Related video: "Christopher Hitchens on Salman Rushdie's fatwa, BBC, Feb 12" in which he mentions the pipe bomb that didn't go off in Cody's bookstore while he (instead of Salman) was reading from The Satanic Verses.
