Rockstar with a voice

UPDATE ! "Please note: due to Christopher Hitchens' health challenges, he will be participating in the debate via video link rather than in person."

WATERLOO — Barry Brummett says he isn’t a rock star but Christopher Hitchens practically is. The two men are to take the stage at the Humanities Theatre at the University of Waterloo for a debate at a sold-out full house on June 4.

Debaters will address the topic: Religion, as a literary value, is a force of good. The debate will be moderated by the host of CBC Radio One’s Q, Jian Ghomeshi.

I do hope Christopher is doing better, and that he'll be well enough to make the trip and knock the opposition out of the ballpark! Take care of yourself and get strong again soon, Hitch..!!

I second @Karen's sentiment. The world needs Hitch.

"...Steve Wasserman wrote in an email this week that Hitchens’ voice had been restored but his health may not allow him to travel." It's encouraging to hear that Hitch may be speaking again (assuming this brief comment attributed to Wasserman is to be believed). Christopher Hitchens is one tough character.

Cool. I hadn't heard that he had his voice back. That's great.

Hitch we love you man. Stay strong.

Jian? Really? I am already embarrassed for him. I hope Hitch lacerates his foolishness into tiny ribbons of silence. Then maybe CBC will get a host who can see beyond his own reflection.

What's the problem? Jian is moderating. He'll be fine. Was fine for Hitch's Q interview.

That would be a matter of opinion.

I asked for a refund for my ticket because it isn't worth driving 4 hours to watch him on TV. I can do that on Youtube. It was bad enough that the Munk debate made us non-members watch from behind him in the choir section during the Hitchens Blair debate!

Get well Hitch, the world needs you still.

Does anyone know if there will be live streaming of that debate? I would love to watch it online as it happens (or afterwards, however it's available). Otherwise, I do hope it will be up on Youtube shortly...

I pray for you Christopher, before it's too late.   For you will believe in God.

Philippians 2:11 says EVERY tongue WILL confess that Jesus is Lord to the Glory of God the Father.

The above comment illustrates perfectly the arrogance of theism.

Anyway, I do wish that I could be there on Saturday! I'm still trying to figure out the meaning of the topic: "Religion, as a literary value, is a force of good." I'm not sure I've ever heard the term "literary value" before...
