Christopher Hitchens (1949 - 2011) was an Anglo-American author and journalist. His books made him a prominent public intellectual and a staple of talk shows and lecture circuits. He was a columnist and literary critic at Vanity Fair, Slate, The Atlantic, World Affairs, The Nation, Free Inquiry and a variety of other media outlets. He was named one of the world's "Top 100 Public Intellectuals" by Foreign Policy and Britain's Prospect.

Republicans who excused extremism in the name of victory have unleashed a monster', is in the Jan 2011 paper version but not online. I've emailed them and asked if he's been taken offline or what is going on. No reply yet.
Tom, We've been spoiled. Articles in the print edition do not automatically go up on the web. Or if they do, it might be after a few weeks. Many areas are still showing the Cher/Dec issue on the stands.
